Self care is muy importante! Here are a few of our favorite things to do during well needed self care
Use a Body scrub
Benefits of sugar scrub: getting rid of dead skin cells, anti-aging, bright, glowy, and soft skin. Exfoliating is also good for acne prone skin.
DIY Body Scrub recipe
Ingredients:
Sugar- the exfoliant, a natural and gentle abrasive which helps to remove dead skin.
Olive Oil- adds moisture, has antioxidant factors, has vitamins A, D, E, and K, and has antibacterial factors. (If you have dry skin honey works as well. Honey has anti-flammatory, antioxidants, and antibacterial properties. It is extremely moisturizing and soothing creating glowy skin.)
Lemon- citrus is a natural skin toner, tightening your pores resulting in smoother skin. It also brightens the skin reducing hyperpigmentation.
There is no right or wrong way to make this. You can add about a cup of sugar, a couple tablespoons of oil, & a few tablespoons of honey, and the juice from the lemon. Just start off with a little at a time and add more as you go. If it is too thick add more lemon juice. if it is too runny add more sugar or oil. It is your preference.
Keep refrigerated when not using it
2. Have an at home pedicure
Grab a big bowl, big enough for your feet to sit in. Pour some warm water in, add soothing bath salt, and let your feet soak for 5-10 minutes. To get rid of the dead skin on your feet you can use a foot file, the diy scrub, or use a towel and scrub away the skin. Once finished remove feet from water, dry them off, and apply a lotion. Massage this into your skin. After your massage grab your favorite polish and polish your toes.
3. Clean & organize your space
You may be like “how is this self-care?” When you have a clean and organized place you feel so much better. Studies have shown that productivity rate rises when you have a clean space. It can also help with self-esteem and confidence. Check out our previous article that includes quick tips for spring cleaning.
4. Meditate
Meditation is good for your mind, body, and spirit. Meditating can reduce stress, leading to less anxiety. It enhances self-awareness, promotes emotional health, improves sleep, and any more amazing benefits. Check out our previous article on Spring cleaning for the soul.
5. use a facial mask
Facial masks are a personal favorite of mine! you can buy an individual mask or buy a bottle of your favorite mask. While we’re QUARANTINed, thankfully grocery stores & drug stores understand the importance of a good facial mask!
DIY Facial Mask recipe
Ingredients:
1/3 cup of oats
1 tablespoon of honey
1 tablespoon of coconut oil
1-2 tablespoons of water.
This recipe is super easy! And more than likely you already have these ingredients at home. You’ll need 1/3 cup of oats, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, & 1-2 tablespoons of water. First you’ll need to blend or use a food processor to break down the oatmeal. then mix in all of the other ingredients in with a spoon. & wallah! You might feel your face tingling, no worries! It’s the honey that is purifying your face.
6. Make a Tent or a fort
Remember when you were a kid & you use to make forts on Saturdays? There’s just something about being child like & purposely enjoying life. Get your laptop & phone, watch some movies, & play some games. Get your cozy blankets & pillows. Use lanterns and battery powered lights for ambiance & decorate however you would like. Trust me this is so enjoyable!
7. Do whatever you love!
Do whatever you love to do! Your favorite hobbies are also great self care for you. Think about certain hobbies, crafts, & activities that you’ve always wanted to try; or HOBBIES THAT YOU ALREADY ENJOY DOING & go for it!
8. enjoy your favorite foods/snacks
Idk about you, but eating is most definitely a way i treat myself! I usually just go on pinterest & make something i’ve been wanting to try for a while! and i eat it while taking a bath or while enjoying nature. & of course you can always use a food delivery service if you don’t feel like cooking.
We hope you love & try these ideas!
