by charity wright april 8th, 2020

Every quarter of the year I make sure that i take sometime out for myself to regroup & refresh. So pretty mush every season i take intentional time to relax & cleanse my soul. 3 john 1:2 niv says “Dear friend, i pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well” Here are 4 quick tips that i personally use to cleanse my soul.

  1. Soul soak

I know this term sounds super spiritual, but it’s actually really simple. When you’re sore from a really good workout or track conditioning you soak in a nice hot bath. This helps soothe the soreness. so BASICALLY you’re just doing the same thing with your soul. You take intentional time to be still & soak in God’s presence. i usually play my favorite WORSHIP playlist or I listen to worship instrumentals. I worship and talk to God. and I also listen to hear what God is saying to me. replace whatever negative thoughts or feelings you’re having with what god says about you. I usually have a journal handy beside me to write down whatever god shares with me. remember a dull pencil is better than a sharp mind! And make sure you have all the good vibes! Try to soak in a quiet peaceful room or go outside. light a candle, build a fort in your room, or grab a cozy blanket. WHATEVER works for you!

2. Reflect and Self-evaluate

Unfortunately many don’t reflect enough. I believe that you shouldn’t just let life happen to you. It’s important to reflect and think about who you are & where you are as a person. Think about what has happened to you recently. Think about the person you are now and the person you are becoming. sometimes reflection causes change. SOMETIMES we realize we don’t like what we’ve done or who we are becoming. But the beautiful thing is that god always help us get on the right track. without the guilt and the shame. Self evaluation is key when living for God! David in psalms always gave such a good example. Psalms 139:23(easy) Says “Look at me god, and know what is in my heart. look into my mind and know my thoughts.” Which means he asked god to show him if there’s anything that he needs to work on or correct. reflection is something you should do everyday. even if it’s just to reflect on your day. also take time to Think about what you have overcome. be in a mode of thankfulness to god for what he has done for you & who he is in your life.

3. refocus & balance your life

Take some time to write down your life. I know this sounds crazy! but just write down all of things you’re involved in & giving your time and energy into. It could be people, hobbies, church, work, school, family, volunteer work, your RESPONSIBILITIES,your devotion, chores, etc. always remember that life is a balancing act. sometimes what worked for you two weeks ago can now be overwhelming. Sometimes we also put things on our plate without even realizing. if you find yourself saying “I wish i had more time to…” Then just take time to rebalance your life. You’ll have more time for your goals, what God wants you to do, & what you really want to do when you pull some time and energy from other things. this is a good exercise for anytime you want to accomplish a goal or feel OVERWHELMED. God will always help you to live a well balanced life!

4. encourage, congratulate, & Celebrate yourself

Just know that there are many silent inner victories that other people will never know about. just know that god is proud of you! always make sure that you take the time to encourage, congratulate, & celebrate yourself! victories big or small! reward yourself with your favorite treat or favorite tv show episode, take some well needed self care time, remind yourself how amazing you are, & the list goes on & on! Remember Hebrews 11:6 (KJv) “… He is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him.”
