You are not inferior

Years Ago I realized I was having issues with my confidence. Ultimately, I didn't really care for my personality. although, I liked the way I looked on the outside. God told me to write down all of the things that I didn’t like about myself. And believe me it was a pretty Long list! Once I finished that list god told me to write down all of the things that he says about me. so I wrote it down. and the list was much longer than the negative list I wrote down. I realized that I didn’t really appreciate all of the good things about myself because I was focused on the wrong things. I then asked god to help me to build my confidence. God told me to keep writing the things he says about me. So I purchased a window marker & i began to write on my vanity mirror that i used everyday. Everyday god would give me something new to write down. He also gave me a scripture Hebrews 10:35 “cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward." Not long after that I began to appreciate and discover things about myself that i loved!

Then when people would say things or felt a negative way towards me… i didn’t care so much! This is when i REALIZED that it’s more important what i think about myself vs. what others may think of me. People who are confident in themselves dare to live out their destiny inspite of opposition. if i don’t have good self esteem then i wont have good confidence. That means that i won’t be able to fully live out god’s destiny for my life.

Let’s take a quick look at some people in the Bible who decided to be confident & it payed off big time!!

  • Moses: Had difficulty speaking to people. God used him to deliver the israelites, split the Red Sea, rained bread from heaven, & the list goes on & on!

  • Gideon: Was considered a “scum” to other people. His family was poor & he was & i quote “The least of his family.” God used him to lead 300 people to defeat an army of 120,000.

  • David: Was the youngest in his family and overlooked by his brothers. God used him to defeat a giant and defeat the PHILISTINES in spite of his stature and what other people thought of him. he later became king.

These are just a few examples, i’m sure you can find Many more people in the Bible who accomplished great things through their confidence in god & their confidence in the god in them. some call that Godfidence!

The point is, it’s bad when someone looks down on you. But it’s even worse when you look down on yourself. What people think of you does not change your identity in christ or god’s plans for your life. I will never forget a quote that I heard from princess diaries “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”

Inferior: a person lower than another in rank, status, or ability.

You may feel inferior or at a disadvantage because of your skin tone or maybe your age. it’s not true! in this world where we are dealing with issues of racism. May you never forget that you are only who god says you arE! it’s up to you to believe that.

Luke 9:48 “For it is the one who Is least among you all who is the greatest.”
