When your life turns upside down

I love the title of this post, “When your Life Turns Upside Down!” It makes me think of a baker. Stay with me, I promise you’ll see where I’m going with this. Have you ever seen a baker flip a cake out of a pan? First, he has to run a knife around the outside of the cake to break its connection to the pan. If he tries to flip it before doing that the cake will fall completely apart. A good baker knows better than that. I’m sure to the cake, this is painful and unfamiliar, and it’s probably thinking that it’s already been through so much! But the baker knows what he’s doing.

Then he puts one hand on top of the cake, while he flips the pan with the other. For a second the cake might rest in his hand, upside down, off balance and afraid, but little does it know that in the baker’s hands is the safest place it could be. At this point the cake is thinking, “What’s happening!?” “My life is so upside down!” “This isn’t how I was supposed to turn out!” But the baker is confident. He holds his creation in his very capable hands, and no matter how much the cake wobbles and shakes, he’s vowed not to let it fall.

The cake doesn’t stay upside down forever, the baker then places a stand on the exposed side of the cake so what when he flips it back over, he can display to the world what he has created. When the cake is right side up and, on the stand, the baker then decorates it and everything feels right to the cake again. The cake now sees that the beating, the baking, and the flipping was all for a reason.

Right now, all of us are cakes, trying to make sense of the world while everything is upside down. Instead of worrying, remember that God’s hand is on us and He promised never to drop us, leave us, or forsake us. In due time, God will flip us back over and put us on a stand to share our experience with others! Trust Him in this moment, he knows what He’s doing.

I love all of you little cakes and I can’t wait to see you soon! Remember to let God use you in this time. Open a window, get some fresh air, let the light in, all of that good stuff. And be encouraged!! Romans 8:28 says “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” ALL THINGS. This may not seem like it, but God has a way of turning trials into triumphs!
