WE HOPE YOU DIDN’T FORGET ABOUT WHAT WE LEARNED DURING SOS NIGHT! IF YOU DID, OR MISSED OUT

HERE’S A QUICK RECAP!

For our March SOS Night we discussed What is in your heart? Forgiveness and Unforgiveness & Guiding your heart. Here’s what our high schoolers learned.

What is forgiveness?

Jesus is the best example of forgiveness. On the cross as He was taking His last breath He was able to say ”forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Forgiveness is when you can have compassion towards those who hurt you.

Who is forgiveness for?

Forgiveness is for us.

If we allow forgiveness to grow it can start to effect our physical health and spiritual blessings.

Psalms 139:23-24 : Search me, O GOD, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.

Praying this prayer in our quiet time gives GOD permission to show us ourselves through different situations and sometimes in other people.

When GOD gives you the revelation of your ‘wicked ways’ we then should ask for wisdom on how to change.

Matthew 6:14-15: For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly FATHER will also forgive you: but if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your FATHER forgive your trespasses.

When we don’t forgive others we limit GOD’S ability to forgive us.

Matthew 18:21-22: “ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

As we are practicing forgiveness we may ask the same question Peter asked, “How many times?” In Matthew, Jesus answers the question.

Proverbs 4:23: Keep thy heart with all diligence; For out of it are the issues of life.

Be mindful of what you allow into your heart.

Keep your heart from behaviors and thoughts that are contrary to the Word of GOD.

Taking a social media fast is a way we can guard our hearts from comparison.

If you are curious about what is in your heart, pay attention to what you’re saying.
